Homecoming and Typhoons

The rain is back, falling gently, nearly transparent. There's no wind worth mentioning but the prognosticators expect 100 kph winds to reach us around 2:00 am. Oh wait, in the last five minutes they've released a new weather map forecasting the typhoon will hit tomorrow night rather than tonight. This bodes well for the high school crowd since tonight's homecoming bonfire won't have to be cancelled or postponed. And Reiko and I won't be hiking into gale-force winds when we go to Kamakura to see hagi (bush clover) tomorrow.

Prognosticators tend to be light on their feet I've noticed, wafting with the breeze so to speak, so the predictions will probably change at least a dozen times before we go to bed tomorrow night.

If you click on this map to enlarge it a little and compare it to yesterday's map, you'll see the forecast has already been toned down a notch. Yokosuka is on the Miura Peninsula, the south shore of Tokyo Bay, on Japan's east coast.

  1. You might should take your umbry to Kamakura, Love. But not one that you don't want to ruin if it bends in the wind.
